Evaluation of the Blog Experience

Hello everyone, today I will tell you about the experience I have had with blogs. 

A blog is a website that includes, as a personal diary of its author, contents of interest, which are often updated frequently and are often commented by readers. In this case it was created to be used in the English course of the university. 

When making a blog, at the beginning it was very complicated because I do not usually tell my experiences to other people. But as in the English course you have to talk about an issue that is presented to everyone equally, it is much easier to write about that topic, instead of investing a topic ourselves. 

I found it very interesting and entertaining, because it allows us to know each other and know our preferences, experiences among us, as classmates. 

In addition, it is a didactic tool where you can add gadgets such as images, links, gift, videos, special characters among others, which accompany what you write about a topic. I think it is an innovative system for evaluations in academic courses, because they allow to develop skills in students in a creative way.

My Favorite Food

Hello, I will tell you about my favorite food. I do not really have a favorite food, but I can say that I love French fries, I think it's really not a meal, but I really like it too hahaha. 

Although I like them a lot, I do not eat them every day, because are not healthy for people, I eat them every once in a while, once every two weeks or so. I have to say that I really only love what my mom does, they are very rich. I think everyone likes French fries, I've never heard someone say they do not like it, and I hope I never hear it, it would be a sadness.

The origin of French fries is disputed between two places, Belgium; When the Meuse River froze during a winter, people fried potatoes instead of the small fish they were used to, and French fries were born. On the other hand in France, it is said that the first form of this preparation was a potato fried sold in carts by street vendors.

For some, regardless of their origins, French fries have become American, where the average consumption per person is about 13 kilos per year, amazing!

A subject you enjoyed studying this semester

Hello everyone, today I will talk about a subject that I really liked to study this semester. This subject is called Diagnosis of Vegetal Formations, is related to all those organisms that may affect forests, such as fungi, insects, among others, which cause some disease or damage to trees.

The focus of this subject is more oriented towards the forestry industry, but it is also related to those organisms that attack the native forests of Chile.

I liked this subject a lot, because having the knowledge of the plague that affects the forests, allows us to know what to do to stop it.

A topic that has been seen in classes that has been very interesting is what happens with the Araucarias during these last years. What happens is that there is something that causes leaf damage in Araucaria individuals of different ages, until now there is no knowledge of the agent that causes this. It is important to know this time so that something can be done about it to stop the agent, since it is a species in conservation category and it is also a natural phenomenon in the country.

Career-related Website Review

Hello, in this blog I will comment on some websites related to the career in which I am. Although we have not occupied so many programs throughout our career, there is a program that we have been using for a very short time and which I have been very surprised about.

This program is called QGIS, this is not a website but it is downloaded for use on the computer.

QGIS is a program that provides a range of capabilities through its basic functions and complements. in which you can visualize, manage, edit and analyze data, and design printable maps.

One of the advantages of using qgis is that it is free, but also facilitates the analysis of data through the functions it has, on the other hand a disadvantage that has, is that it does not support very heavy files, it also closes easily without saving the work, sadly it has happened to me for some deliveries from the university.

My Favorite Writer

In particular, I do not have a favorite writer, really because I do not read a lot, but I think one of the best writers is Gabriel Garcia Marquez. He was born in Aracataca (Magdalena), Colombia on March 6, 1927 and died on April 17, 2014, Mexico City, Mexico, at 87 years of age.

His work is mainly framed in magical realism, a narrative movement characterized by the coexistence of fantastic or mythical phenomena in a realistic account and was one of the most important and influential writers of universal literature.

He won numerous awards that celebrated his thought and his work, among which the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1982.

Among the most important works he had were: "Cien años de soledad", "Crónica de una muerte anunciada",  "El coronel no tiene quien le escriba", "Relato de un náufrago" and  "El amor en los tiempos del cólera".

The history behind photography

Hello everyone, I chose these three photos because I like them a lot. I like them because these photos are from the family vacations that we had last year, they represent a nice memory because we had never gone on vacation all four together; My mom, my dad, my sister and I had a great time. 

The first photo is in the Rio Clarillo National Reserve (this photo was taken for the winter holidays of last year) and the last two are from the Conguillio National Park, where the thousand-year-old Araucaria is 1800 years old and the other in the Rainbow Lagoon ( these were taken in December).

With my family, in December, we went on vacation to the south for two weeks, we camped in different places. We went from the national park Conguillio to Puerto Fuy, we met many beautiful places with plenty of vegetation, rivers, lagoons, everything very beautiful.

I love being able to have this experience with my family and I would like it to happen again and again.

My Favorite TV Series

My favorite TV series is Game of Thrones, I started watching it a little while ago (two years), because it premiered for the first time in 2011.This series can be seen on the hbo channel when it premier, but there are also pages on the internet where you can see it. I have not seen many series, but of the few that I have seen, this has been the most impressive of all. I like it because it has a lot of drama between the characters of the series and a lot of action, because they kill many characters in unexpected moments and the worst forms that can exist. There is no can to be have affection by any character, because you do not know at what moment they can kill it. On the other hand they show many exciting wars and in this season the most awaited war of all is coming: against the white walkers! (see gift)

My Favorite Technological Device

My favorite technological device is the camera, because it's great to capture moments, landscapes or objects at a specific moment, and sometimes they only happen once. In particular, I like to photograph my family and see them later, this allows me to relive those moments. I also like to photograph landscapes when I'm going to walk to the hill or the river, or when I travel, it's amazing to see an object that captures the beauty that the human eye sees. Photography allows me to capture images of different plant species, which is directly related to the career I study, because with it I can identify the species, because I photograph the plants and I can compare them with others, in books or on the Internet, so I can identify the species. Why did I choose this study programme?

Before decide study forest engineering, I was study a year in another career, architecture, ago three years, in 2016, at the beginning I liked this career, but when I finished my first year I realized that it was not really what I wanted for me life, I really did not have the skills to create or design. I wanted something related to nature and plants, then at the end of the year I appled and stayed, the following year I started in the forestry engineering career, at first I was afraid that I would not like it, but as time has passed,I realized that this is what I want for my life, I never imagined that I would study this, but I think was one of the best decisions that I have ever made in my life. I am happy with the career I chose and I hope it will always be that way.

My Autobiography: Who am I?

Mi name is Cinthia Vera Cárdenas, I am student of forestry engineering.I am in third year at Universidad de Chile. Also I work as a packer in supermarket near of my house.I was born on July 3rd, 1997 in Talagante and I am 21 years old. Currently, I live in that place with my family. My family is my mom, my dad and my sister, she is 17 years old. I don´t have pet, but I would like to have some day. I like going to places with lots of nature, as a hills, lakes, rivers, near of my house. Also I like travel and much, this summer I traveled with my sister to Rapa Nui, it was a travel unforgettable, the place is very mystic, magic and quiet, I would like to go back.
